Bug Love~!

...Oooookay, I typed an uber long description of this over at y!hosting, so I'm just gonna copy and paste:

So this is what has been eating my LIFE for the past few weeks. It's my first complete picture that I've done entirely via tablet. It was mostly to see if I COULD, and it turns out the answer to that is Kinda Sorta Not Really.

So. There are proportion issues galore, because hey, tablet drawing is damn hard. And yes, the poses are undynamic and the background looks like vomit, but...I couldn't stand to work on this picture for one more minute T_T. So just ignore the obvious flaws and look at the pretty wings, dammit.

As for who these two are: The moth boy (yes, MOTH, not butterfly) is Ash, and the redheaded (wingless) beetle boy is Mallow. See...they're bug faeries, if you want to call them that. So yes, they're leetle. Like six inches tall, or so. Anyway, the winged faeries--mothes, butterflies, dragonflies, fireflies and the like--live up in the trees and other high places. Ground faeries--beetles (shut up, beetles in my happy little world don't have wings, 'kay?), ants, grasshoppers-- rarely, if ever, see them, so they're kind of viewed as mysterious and ethereal. (Although they're not, really.)

One day Mallow, the beetle boy, is caught out in the rain and runs for the shelter of a nearby bush--only to discover that someone else got there first. Enter Ash, a moth faerie, who's huddled under the bush because he can't fly with wet wings. Mallow's all "O_O" because whoa, winged faerie. He ends up persuading Ash to come back to his home, and Ash is forced to stay there for days before the rain lets up. Of course, by that time, they've become friends, and we ALL know where this is going...

...Of course, later Mallow finds out that Ash is actually a thief who came to rob the nearby faerie ruins, but that little "misunderstanding" gets cleared up eventually. Ash is no fluffy helpless uke, either...he actually tends to be a bit reckless where treasure is concerned, although he is a very good thief.

This picture is actually supposed to be a year or so after they meet, when they got caught out in the rain. They start reminiscing, and obviously this leads to hot smexxings.

...I'm not entirely sure how those Pointless Magical Sparklies worked their way into the picture.

I still hate the background.

Also: I'm making this available for print, I guess >_>. I've never seen what DA prints LOOK like, so I really couldn't tell you how nice it'll be. Especially since the full res version is NOT the one I intended for people to see...
